The mission of Vermont Sting is to develop confident, fundamentally sound athletes through a culture of encouragement discipline, teamwork, and respect. We are committed to creating a positive enviroment where players grow as competitor and individuals, build lasting relationships, and experience the joy of the game. Above all, we strive to make every player and family feel like they belong, because at Vermont Sting, we are one family.

Our Journey and Legacy
Vermont Sting was founded in 2008 by Travis Paquet with a vision to create a basketball program grounded in strong fudamentals, good sportsmanship, and true team play. He believed that every player should step onto the court striving to be the best version of themselves, while also understanding that every role matters and contributes to the success of the team.
The program began with a team of 15 and 16 year old girls whom Travis had coached in other programs since third grade. Known as the "Dream team" they became the inspiration for Vermont sting and helped shape the programs's identity. After their graduation, Travis began again with a talented group of fourth grade girls and coached them throughout their high school careers.
Travis later took a brief hiatus while his own children were young, but eventually returned to coaching teams for his sons and daughters. Over the years, other like-minded coaches have joined Vermont Sting, sharing the same commitment to developing fundamentally strong players, exceptional sportsmanship, confidence, and team-first athletes.
Today, Vermont Sting is home to four teams: Varsity Girls, Eighth-grade boys, Sixth-grade boys and Fifth-grade girls. While the program has grown, its foundation remains the same: helping players understand their value, embrace their role, compete with purpose, and become part of something bigger than themselves.
